ABOUT ACTION VC
WE’RE TAKING ACTION IN VENTURA COUNTY.
We are individuals, churches, businesses and agencies who come together to serve the vulnerable in our communities- those who often fall through the cracks. Throughout the year, we connect local volunteers with meaningful projects to serve under-resourced seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities.
BRINGING ACTS OF SERVICE TO NEIGHBORS IN NEED.
We exist to serve the most vulnerable in our communities by partnering with agencies to give us insight into areas where volunteers can meet the most pressing needs, empowering volunteers to manifest compassion and service as representatives of their communities, mobilizing churches and businesses to serve in projects in their cities throughout the year, and raising the awareness of social and economic issues in our county.
SERVING THE VULNERABLE.
Our work consists of meeting tangible needs for our neighbors in need. According to the Ventura County Bureau of Statistics, seniors, veterans, those with disabilities and those living in poverty make up a disproportionate amount of our population.
We are seeking to change these statistics by creating a community of neighbors that care for one another. Our programs focus on meeting the needs of our neighbors in tangible ways.
LOW INCOME Seniors
24% of the county are seniors. Our programs assist them with projects that improve their safety and quality of life in the home.
PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
7% of the population are people with disabilities. We provide ramp and grab bar installations for those who have limited mobility.
At-Risk families
11% of the county lives below the poverty level, and 32% are children. Christmas Shoppe allows these families to shop for toys at no personal cost.
UNDer-Resourced neighbors
There are pockets within our county that fall far below the poverty level; cities like Oxnard (15%) and Santa Paula (16%).
